Dr. Matthias Koch

Linguistic and language studies, historical, cultural and social science studies. Magister degree (MA) and doctoral degree (PhD). Scientific work at universities and research facilities in Germany and abroad (Marburg, Tokyo, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Berlin, etc.). Versatile academic and other professional activities among others in the capacity of guest professor and university lecturer, language teacher, interpreter, translator, intercultural consultant, (co-) author, and (co-) editor.

Continuously building up comprehensive theoretical expertise with specific know-how and practical experience as a teacher of German as a foreign language in Germany and abroad particularly with regard to linguistics, didactics and methodology, regional and cultural studies, and intercultural paedagogy. Further education, training and development in the field of German as a foreign language e.g. through the distance learning programmes of Goethe-Institut e. V. in Munich, as a guest auditor at Free University of Berlin as well as an autodidact. Special fields of interest: Theoretical foundations and concepts of teaching and learning German as a foreign language, didactics and methodology, creative forms of teaching and learning, planning and phasing of teaching, multilingualism as a prerequisite for intercultural dialogue and cultural diversity. Worldwide cooperation with practitioners and theoreticians of German as a foreign language.
